On to my next creation! Once again I have delved into the annals of Epic Tyranid history, to find a monster fit for my Hive Fleet. The original Malefactor was basically a transport creature, carrying smaller organisms into the fray. It also has two kick-ass Scything Talons, of huge proportion.
While I have absolutely no idea how to make any rules for this monster, my re-imagined version is a mix between the Tervigon and Haruspex. It inherits the really wide torso of the Haruspex, while I see the “troops” it carries as only half-developed inside its body. So when it reaches the enemies battle lines, the troops dive out its body into battle.
So, I’ll build it mostly out of Haruspex/Exocrine parts, but I’ll need to split up the ribs to gives an exit for the Hormagaunts it carries. I don’t think it could really carry a huge number of Gaunts, but it would definitely pack a punch. It could even be used to carry some otherwise-useless Genestealers…say the Cult fan.
I think it still needs a bit of tinkering before I start to build it up.
The Cerebore has only ever appeared in the Warhammer 40,000 card game, and I’m not really sure what it’s meant to be! It looks somewhere between a sea snail, a fish, a normal snail and a crab. No idea at all.
I’ve only done one sketch for this particular monster, as I’m really not sure what style I’m going for. The small picture looks like is has lash-whips, so the first set of limbs will ensnare any enemies. It also has feeder tendrils, so that it can snack on anything caught in its tendrils.
You can clearly see that this Tyranid is huge, so I’d probably have to build most of it from scratch and I designed a different shell for this purpose. It doesn’t quite fit the idea of the ravening hunger that is the Tyranids, as it seems more a slow and patient killer. Maybe it does a similar job to the Malanthrope, picking through the ruins after battle, searching out exemplary specimens to digest and pick out their DNA?
Still, it’s a design, and will probably be one of the last I build from. Hope this weeks update isn’t too lacking!
